Januray 5th in the Villages Unterach, Steinbach, Schörfling
When the winterly spook of the rough nights disperses in festive Christmas smells. on January 5th 2008, the previous evening to the three-king day, the dark demons will be finally banished: At the Attersee many small suns illuminate the darkness with a magic light dance.
In Schörfling the „Glöcklerlauf“ is beginning at 16.00 p.m. at several places and at 19.45 p.m. at the market square all Glöckler will come together.
In Steinbach the custom carneval starts at 18.30 p.m. at Weißenbach and continue to the Center of Steinbach at 20.00 p.m. and finally they will arrive the Gasthaus Föttinger in Seefeld at 20.45 p.m
In Unterach the „Glöcklerlauf“ at 17.00 p.m. the Glöckler start in Ort at the Mondsee and carry forward to the main square in Unterach together with the caroller.
The white-dressed shapes run circles, figure eight and spirals and carry bright "Glöcklerkappen" on their heads: large, artful decorated caps of wood and paper. The bells carried at the belts ring in addition and wake up germinating life. Each “Glöcklergruppe” or also known as “Pass” consists of 14 men and 1 precursor. Due to the fact that the Glöcklerkappen are made of paper the Glöcklerlauf can only be held when there is no rain or snowfall – otherwise it has to be postponed.
In former times the Glöcklerlauf was held because of social reasons from poor families. They dressed up themselves as Glöckler and one day before the tree-kings day it was usual that the Glöckler knocked on the doors and got Glöcklerdoughnuts and Pofesen or baked apples and hot beverages.
